Chuck Como’s 1964 hit "Bells in My Heart" was originally released on New Orleans based Frisco Records. “Bells in My Heart” was a cover of a 1955 song written by Joseph Robichaux, Ruth Durand & C. V. Matassa. The last-named writer is likely to be Cosimo Matassa, the owner and engineer of the renowned New Orleans Cosimo recording studio. Cosimo suggested to Huey Meaux that he take Barbara Lynn’s recording of “You’ll Lose a Good Thing” to Jamie Records in 1962. Huey Meaux, who produced many recordings that went on Jamie and Guyden Records, starting with Barbara Lynn, also produced Gene and the Jokers’ 1959 swamp rock hit, “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.” Guyden Records bought the recording of “Bells in My Heart” to give it national distribution at a time when distribution was the key to competing with cover versions of hit songs and even getting music into new markets. Without the internet, physical distribution was a central obstacle for local hits to go national. The contract for the sale of the record and Chuck Como’s future recordings had the unusual stipulation, "You shall have the right and privilege of selling recordings of Chuck Como on your 'Foxy' label in the Houston, Texas, and New Orleans, La., distributor areas." Chuck Como continued his career singing with the Contours, and under his real name of Chuck Cavet was still singing for the Jokers into the new millennium.  Chuck continued to perform in the New Orleans area, where he unfortunately was injured in a car accident in late 2011.
