Cynthia Sheeler has been called by Sir Shambling, the Deep Soul Heaven Northern Soul maven, “one of the very best vocalists to emerge in New Orleans in the 70s.” Her Phil-LA of Soul sides were “Nobody Wins” b/w “One Minute of Your Time,” which were acquired from Senator Jones, her producer, after their initial appearance on Super Dome Records. The two Phil-LA of Soul sides combined Super Dome 502, “One Minute of Your Time,” with Super Dome 506’s “Nobody Wins.”  All four recordings appeared in the Jamie archive, indicating two of the four were chosen as the first  release, one from each of two tapes. . Kris Kristofferson’s “Nobody Wins” is called “country soul at its best, beautifully sung.”

The Phil-LA of Soul release carried over the production credit, “Dollars & Cents”, which Sir Shambling calls “an easily recognisable pseudonym for the Senator himself, who has not really got the attention he deserves as a country soul producer. To his eternal credit he persevered with the style into the 80s, well after almost everybody else had abandoned the genre.” The arranger on the two sides is credited to Raymond Jones. Cynthia Sheeler also sang “I’ll Cry Over You” and later in the 70s worked with Jimmy Moliere on both disco and soul sides, including a recording of her own “I Never Felt Like This Before.”
