Excerpts from Cooler Than Ice: Arctic Records and the Rise of Philly Soul:

This crisp production by J-Dan-Ray Enterprises came from the team of Raymond Eskridge and Dan Di Tomasso, who hailed from Ardmore, Pennsylvania. The identity of the “J” remains a mystery, though Jimmy Bishop is an obvious possibility.

Hiring Roland Chambers, one of Philly’s first-call studio guitarists, to arrange “Do What You Wanna’ Do” was a sage move. So was choosing Dee Dee Barnes to sing it; her animated performance is electrifying as the rhythm section kicks like a mule under the punchy horns. “I’m Yours And You’re Mine” is up-tempo as well but less frantic overall, Dee Dee giving it all she has once again over an effervescent groove that modulates towards the end (both sides were tailor-made for the dance floor).

This was Dee Dee’s only entry in Arctic’s catalog; there’s no sign of her ever recording again. She made the most of her one studio shot.
