Another Day, Another Lifetime is the only album of The David, the psychedelic garage band that made a splash on the West Coast in the late 1960s. The David exemplified psychedelic rock with one of the best albums from that era. Its eastern chantlike overtones mix melodically with western beats set to instruments that include the “Plasmatar,” which was invented by the group’s composer, Warren Hansen. He named the 6-foot wooden frame with piano strings the plasmatar because, he says, “’sitar’ was taken and it sounded psychedelic.”
For The David, which inspired a cult following from its only release in 1967, this is indeed “Another Day, Another Lifetime.” Jamie/Guyden’s release, remixed and remastered by Tom Moulton, includes two previously unreleased tracks, “I Don’t Care“ and the instrumental “Mister, You’re A Better Man Than I.“
