The Magic Reign was a Washington, D.C. rock group consisting of Michael Lee Buker lead singer, William Clayton Kelly, Jr. on bass. John Allen Peters on drums, Robert Francis Winkler on piano, Robert Lee Christie, Jr. on lead guitar, and Michael Douglas Volk on guitar. Recorded by Howard Boggess, group members Robert Lee Christie and Michael Douglas Volk also wrote and adapted their songs. Signed to Jamie Records in the summer of 1968, they did rock music with a folk sensibility, adapting the old nineteenth-century dance and children’s nursery rhyme to a heavy beat and band presentation.  Magic Reign had two single releases on Jamie. “Pop Goes the Weasel” b/w “Mirrors” (Jamie 1364) came out in September, 1968, and “Jefferson Street” b/w “Charcoal Sketch” (Jamie 1374) came out in March, 1969. They also recorded a number of other songs for Jamie, including “What You Gonna Do About It,” Mr. Soul,” and “Everything I Need.”
